Fill it in below, then print it or save it as a PDF. It's pre-filled with typical landscaper line items (example prices only: replace them with yours). It adds GST at 10% if you're registered and switches the heading to "Invoice" with a no-GST line if you're not. Nothing you type leaves your browser.

What a landscaper invoice should show
Garden and landscaping invoices mix time, materials by volume and disposal. Quantities with units (m³, m², pots) let the customer see exactly what turned up.
Line-item wording you can borrow
Specific descriptions get paid faster than "labour and materials". Examples for landscapers and gardeners:
- Monthly maintenance: mow, edge, weed and blow (visit 14 Oct)
- Supply and lay buffalo turf, 40 m², including soil prep
- Supply and spread pine bark mulch, 3 m³
- Prune hedges, front boundary (approx. 25 m)
- Green waste removal including tip fees
- Install drip irrigation to garden beds, with timer
- Supply and plant 20 x native grasses, 140 mm pots
- Excavator hire, half day (recharged)
If you're registered for GST, a tax invoice for a sale under $1,000 must show: that it's a tax invoice, your identity and ABN, the issue date, a description with quantity and price, the GST (or "Total price includes GST" if GST is exactly 1/11 of the total) and how much of each sale is taxable. From $1,000, add the buyer's identity or ABN. The template covers all of these.
Tips for landscapers and gardeners
- List materials by quantity and unit (m³, m², pots) so the customer can see what they paid for.
- For regular maintenance, invoice per visit or monthly and show the visit dates.
- Add photos to the email (not the invoice) for one-off jobs; it cuts "what did you do?" emails.
- Give every invoice a unique number (generator) and send it the day the job finishes.
Questions
Are plants GST-free?
No. Plants, mulch and soil are taxable sales when you're registered for GST.
Do I charge GST on green waste disposal?
If you're registered and the disposal is part of your service to the customer, yes.
If the invoice isn't paid
Use a polite, consistent schedule: a heads-up 3 days before the due date, a reminder on the day, then +7, +14 and +30 days. The free reminder email generator writes them, and the late payment interest calculator works out interest if your terms allow it.
